Next Year I'm Getting the Flu Shot
I tell you what -- I've never been hit that hard with a cold/flu before in my life. I never get headaches and I had one for three days straight. I had a moderate (101-102) fever for a few days and weakness, the chills, muscle pain and all of that fun stuff. Tons of congestion but no coughing, which was weird. And a sore throat in a pear tree. All told I lost three and a half days of work. I probably slept 90% of the time. I feel almost better now but I'm worried I'll pass this miserable flu on to other people -- when do I get the all clear? Val, my girlfriend, for the first year in a while has not gotten the flu shot. This is also the first year in a while that she has not gotten the flu. It's also the first year that she's working in daycare and exposed to even more germs than in previous years. I think the flu shot is just a big hoax. If you are old, or in poor health, and think the flu will kill you, then go ahead. But for normal healthy people, it isn't really that important that you get it. » Posted by: Kibbee at January 29, 2005 01:20 PMOnce you feel 90% well, stay at home two extra days. When you start going to work, let people know you had the flu. Try to keep your distance from people, especially the elderly. » Posted by: at January 30, 2005 02:13 AMHey Ryan... Glad to hear you're feelin better. I got the flu shot for the first time this year and have had no problems with it. It was a big step for me considering the doctors used to have to hold me down to give me shots. Results: No headaches, no feeling weird, and most importantly no flu, mind you im not quite out of the woods yet. Seeing as it's free and it may have been able to save you a few days work ($$) ... I'd say it's definitely worth it. » Posted by: Kris at February 2, 2005 10:18 PM |
