They're All Watching You
Gregg Easterbrook, a reporter, has been fired from ESPN for remarks he made on his blog. I'm not going to comment on the nature of the remarks but it brings up an interesting point: when you blog, everyone can see you. That includes your family, your co-workers, your boss and all of your friends. When you're typing into some insignificant text box its hard to keep in mind that the whole English-reading wired world can read your blog. That is hundreds of millions of people. So be smart about what you write in public ... especially about things that can get you fired. Posted at October 19, 2003 at 02:55 AM ESTLast updated October 19, 2003 at 02:55 AM EST Comments
I hate censoring myself. But it's so true. » Posted by: roy at October 19, 2003 11:08 AMI really can't believe that he would write something like that, he deserves to be fired. Considering that we know better than to say things like that, you would expect that a reporter would be over-sensitive to things like that... just stupid on his part. But yes, it's amazing how many people actually read what we write... as soon as people see the @asktravis.com in my email, they immediately go and fire up the website... good and bad I guess.
